Year One

Brooklyn joined Landmarks in September 2023, excited to follow his passion for Hospitality and Catering. He began his learning hours at The Archer provision, where his first few weeks were focused on a baseline period. This allowed staff to observe how he interacted with peers and customers, as well as how he engaged in sessions. These observations shaped Brooklyn’s initial targets, which focused on managing anxieties, asking for help when needed, improving money skills, and taking his time when completing tasks.

Brooklyn quickly made good progress. With strong feedback from tutorials and target evidence, new goals were introduced, which he worked towards with determination. A highlight of his first year was visiting Greene King headquarters, where he toured the premises, took part in product testing, and even chose a meal specification which he then cooked from scratch. Brooklyn shone throughout the experience.

By the end of Year One, Brooklyn had achieved an impressive set of qualifications, including his Level 1 Award in Hospitality and Catering, Level 1 English, Level 1 Digital Functional Skills, and his Level 2 Cellar Management. A very successful first year!

Year Two

With clear aspirations of working front of house in the hospitality industry, Brooklyn began a supported internship at a Greene King pub close to home. From the start, he showed commitment and enthusiasm for his role. Within a few months, he was working semi-independently, demonstrating strong self-motivation and an excellent work ethic.

Brooklyn’s independence grew further as he settled into his placement, and feedback from his employer during progress reviews was consistently positive. His final review in July brought fantastic news – Brooklyn was offered paid employment thanks to his hard work, reliability, and dedication.

Brooklyn was overjoyed at this achievement, and rightly so. His journey has been a shining example of perseverance, growth, and success. We are so proud of everything he has accomplished so far – well done, Brooklyn!
