On Wednesday, 29th March Landmarks Specialist College hosted its first Independence Fest. The event welcomed external service providers from various organisations and local authorities to promote their services to our young people and their parents/carers.
i-fest saw 18 services attend promoting services such as employment support, day services, advocacy, preparation for adulthood and emergency services. Attendees had an excellent opportunity to identify support for future transitions. Feedback from the event was that many learners learnt about services they hadn’t heard of previously and found discussions around how they are able to be more independent and active within their local communities.
This first event was a huge success and will be repeated next year with Landmarks hoping to attract further organisations to attend and ensuring learners have the information and support needed to prepare for adulthood.
