Animal Care Studies

Subject Overview

Get hands-on, get outdoors and learn by doing.

Animal Care is delivered at our working farm in the beautiful village of Apperknowle, on the edge of Dronfield.

Learners get hands-on experience caring for a range of livestock, including sheep, cattle, horses, pigs and poultry, as part of our farm-to-fork curriculum.

What could you get involved in?

  • Caring for and feeding livestock
  • Learning about animal health and welfare
  • Understanding breeding and birthing
  • Following the changing seasons on the farm
Seeing how food moves from farm to fork
  • Developing teamwork and communication
  • Building confidence, physical skills and independence

Practical learning in a real working environment, helping learners develop skills they can use both at Landmarks and beyond.
